Technical Advisor

A technical advisor is the second most important part of building you log home. The first is a log home manufacturer that can provide the highest quality log package for your home.

Most manufacturers have a dealer with a builder or builder network. There are occasions where nether are available and the manufacturer sells you the package direct from the corporate office. In this case you the customer must locate a builder. You must check out the builder through local Building Contractor Associations, references, banks, Better Business Bureau etc. The manufacturer should offer you a technical advisor who will contract with you to be on the job for an agreed amount of time and money. This advisor should have the experience with a specific manufacturer’s product and construction methods. Some log home manufacturers just want to sell you the log home package and run like heck. There are over 400 log home companies from mom and pop operations that only broker the log packages in from other suppliers to large corporations. This is an industry that the buyer needs to beware. Do your homework. Ask to visit their mill operation. Only a small hand full of manufacturers harvest their own logs and process tehm from the forest to your home with strict quality control.
